Harnett Public Library To Kick Off Summer Reading Club
The public is invited to join the Harnett County Public Library as they kick off this year’s Summer Reading Club on June 11.
The outdoor event will take place at the Main Library in Lillington and feature two large inflatables for participants to play on: a slide and an obstacle course. Light refreshments will be provided, as well as information on this year’s programs. Participants can pick up a calendar of events. The event is free and open to the public. It will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
The themes for this year’s Summer Reading Club are: For children — “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read;” for teens — “Get in the Game: Read;” and for adults — “Exercise Your Mind — Read.” Various events are planned this summer for all ages centering on these themes. Program dates and times can be found on the library website or by visiting the library.
Highlighted performers for children’s programming include Chris and Neal, Carolina’s Best Magicians; Mark Lippard, Variety Entertainer; Drew Allison, Grey Seal Puppets; Donna Pruett, The Balloon Lady; and Rags to Riches: Theatre for Young Audiences.
Prizes will be awarded each week to children who complete their reading logs. Adults and teens can complete their reading log over the course of the summer for a prize, one per customer, while supplies last. Completed adult logs will be entered in a drawing for two $25 Visa Gift Cards. The Summer Reading Club runs through Friday, July 22. All completed logs must be turned in by this date.
