Buies Creek Students Write About Local Heroes

Buies Creek Elementary fourth-grade students recently participated in an essay contest where they wrote about a local hero. The project ended with a special dinner, sponsored by Modern Woodmen.

All essay writers were in attendance and their heroes were also invited to the event. One student was selected contest winner and his/her hero was named “Hometown Hero.”

SaVanna Stocks was selected as the contest winner after writing about the EMS worker who saved her father’s life last October when he had a heart attack.

Josh Sorrell was named Hometown Hero at Buies Creek Elementary School. Mr. Sorrell works for Buies Creek EMS.
