Fidelity Bank’s motto is “Right By You,” but with a recent announcement concerning one local branch, Angier residents can read that as “Down The Road In Lillington.”

Last week, letters were sent out to Fidelity’s Angier customers announcing the closure of its branch along North Raleigh Street.“ After careful review, we have determined that it is in the best interest of the bank and our customer base to close our Angier location… . We will combine this location with our Lillington office at 20 Pine State St.,” it reads.

The official closing date for the Angier branch will be Friday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m.

The letter does point out that Angier Fidelity accounts will remain open and customers can continue to use them after the branch closure date. All accounts will be transferred to the Lillington Fidelity office after Oct. 14.

The Lillington office is approximately eight miles from the Angier location. There are also two locations in Fuquay-Varina — the headquarters for Fidelity Bank.

Angier also has BB& T, First Federal, First Citizens and First Bank branches in town.

Three employees work at the Angier Fidelity. Bank officials said they would remain employed as the goal was to “retain all associates” during the closure.

In addition, the letter detailed the transition of safety deposit boxes from Angier to Lillington. The boxes will not be opened during the moving process, however, individuals who would like to move the contents of their box personally may do so anytime before Oct. 13.

Angier Town Manager Coley Price sent out a statement referencing the closure.

“We are deeply sorry to hear that Fidelity Bank’s Angier branch will be closing this fall. It is never a happy occasion when our town loses such a tremendous asset as Fidelity Bank,” he said. “The financial institution has been a mainstay in our area for many years. On behalf of the town and its residents, however, we hope that this restructuring of branches serves its customers well.”

For any questions regarding the transition, bank officials ask customers to contact the Lillington office at (910) 814-1164.
