Triton, Gentry Students Participate In Mentoring Program
Students at Triton High School and Gentry Primary School participated in a program this school year called “Men of Distinction” and “Girls as Leaders.”’ The purpose of the program was to build leadership skills among younger students and to foster relationships.
Gentry second-grade students were selected by classroom teachers to participate. These students were then paired with a Triton High mentor.
Students met about 14 times throughout the school year at Gentry Primary and worked on a project with their Triton buddies. Students had an opportunity to learn the importance of setting goals and working to meet those goals. They also made a presentation to a group at the conclusion of the program.
At the final meeting, students went to Triton High and took a tour of the school. They went to some classes and had the opportunity to meet some of the teachers.
