Operation Fan/Heat Relief Under Way
Operation Fan/Heat Relief, a summer fan distribution program that operates each year throughout North Carolina, is now under way.
Contributions from groups, including Dominion Resources, Duke Energy Carolinas, Duke Energy Progress and the Valassis Giving Committee, have donated to support this important program.
Harnett County residents who are 60 or older or individuals younger than age 60 with a qualifying disability and have a home situation where a threat to their health and well-being exists, may be eligible to receive one fan per year.
According to Mary Jane Sauls with the Harnett County Division on Aging, “This program helps our seniors who often do not have any means of cooling their home. The hot, summer weather is hard on everyone, but it is especially difficult on our senior citizens.”
If you would like information on how to receive a fan through the Operation Fan/Heat Relief, contact the Harnett County Division on Aging, Vicky Walden, at (910) 814-6074.
