Registration Under Way For GriefShare Program At Ebenezer
Ebenezer Presbyterian Church is offering a GriefShare Program to our local community. If you have experienced the death of a family member or have a friend who has suffered loss you are invited to register for the Grief-Share program to be held at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.
This nondenominational program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The DVD seminar features nationally respected grief experts and reallife stories of people, followed by a small group discussion about what was seen on the DVD.
Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Past participants have related how helpful the information and follow-up discussions were to them.
Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member or friend. No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling.
You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that you do not need to live in bondage as a slave to certain emotions. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future. Grief-related books/materials are made available for participants to borrow.
GriefShare will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 30 in Ruby Creech Room of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, 2900 Ebenezer Church Road, Coats. To register or for questions, call (910) 9877230 or go to www.GriefShare. com and click on “Find a Group” (enter 27521). Child care is not available. Cost or donation is $15.

The Kiwanis of Coats were joined by eight students and members of their families as they finished up their school and KKids year. Kaylee Godwin also joined the group as a Builders Club member from Coats-Erwin Middle School. Both the Builders and K-Kids won awards in the Carolinas District for scrapbook submissions.
David McLean, director of the Coats Senior Citizens Center, was the presenter for the evening. He explained the history of senior centers and the financial hardships they are facing today. He told that the centers are a gateway to the aging community network and has hopes to keep senior citizens out of nursing homes and in their own homes. In addition to meals and nutrition on site and the 20 home deliveries, they try to provide health and wellness programs, arts and humanities activities and social networking activities. The greatest needs for the Coats Center are for volunteers and financial support through their fundraisers.
