The Cape Fear Heritage Foundation will host on Aug. 13 the 10th annual youth day filled with many outdoor activities such as shooting sporting clays, archery, BB gun range shooting, fishing, pointing dog demonstration, retriever demonstrations, a wildlife safari exhibition, fun games and learning with the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Cape Fear Youth Day participants will receive lunch, T-shirt, memberships in conservation organizations and will be entered into a raffle for a free North Carolina Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License. The registration fee is $10.
Cape Fear Heritage Foundation is not-for-profit corporation comprised of a wholly volunteer group of local men and women who want to expose children to the joys that can be found only in nature. They hope to provide experiences to children who may have never caught a bream, pulled the string on a bow or fired a BB gun. Organizers hope that this event will spark an interest in a child that will last a lifetime. So bring your children and friends.
Registration forms and a map can be found on the website www. capefearyouthday.com. Registration will begin 8 a.m. at the Wellons farm on N.C. 217 just south of Erwin between the Little River and the Cape Fear River. The event site will be clearly marked.
