A Sanford man is facing sex offense charges following an investigation by the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, James Lee Jones Jr., 33, of the 200 block of North Pheasant Lane was arrested Friday.
Harnett Sheriff’s Maj. Gary McNeill said Monday that Mr. Jones was “known to the victim” — a female under the age of 13, but declined to comment further on the case.
Mr. Jones’ exact relationship to the victim remains unclear.

Maj. McNeill also declined to comment on how the case was brought to the attention of authorities.
Warrants were taken out on July 21. Mr. Jones was charged with one felony count of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult.
He was taken to the Harnett County Jail and placed under a $100,000 secured bond.
