30th Anniversary Gen. William C. Lee Celebration June 5-11
Make plans to attend the 30th Anniversary General William C. Lee Celebration in honor of the “Father of the Airborne,” June 5-11 in Dunn. The week-long event will include a number of activities, culminating with a concert June 11 featuring the Band of Oz and The Charlie Daniels Band. For more information, call (910) 892-3282. • Sunday, June 5 — Community Worship Service, General William C. Lee Museum lawn, 6 p.m.
• Monday, June 6 — Wreath Laying Ceremony, Gravesite of Gen. Lee at Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, 10 a.m.
• Tuesday, June 7 — Essay contest winners announced
• Wednesday, June 8 — Field of Honor Flag Dedication Ceremony. A memorial Flag Garden with names of individuals in memory or honor of will be dedicated at 209 W. Divine St. beside the General Lee museum, 11 a.m.
• Thursday, June 9 — Gen. Lee Golf Tournament, Keith Hills, $60 per player, $240 per team, lunch provided sponsored by the Dunn Rotary Club. Lunch 11 a.m. with tee time at noon. Call (910) 8902416 for registration.
• Thursday, June 9 — Gen. Lee Celebration Gospel Sing. Local group Butler, Hughes & Hayes will open at 7 p.m. for Brian Free & Assurance, who perform at 8 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, Dunn.
• Friday, June 10 — General Lee Evening Tour. Tour the home of Gen. William C. Lee and his wife at 209 W. Divine St., 6 to 10 p.m.
• Friday, June 10 — One Starry Night, Lawn Party at The Howard House, 402 S. Layton Ave., Dunn, from 8 p.m. to midnight. Entertainment by the John Dupree Band. Sponsored by the Dunn Woman’s Club. Tickets are $50 per couple, $30 individually. Call (910) 892-3282 for more information.

9 a.m. to noon registration, Harnett County Cruisers Car Show at the P.K. Vyas Center parking lot at Tart Park. Winners announced at 3 p.m.
10:30 a.m., Walk In The Park Parade With A Veteran, Tyler Park at 803 W. Harnett St. Decorate your bike or your wagon in a patriotic fashion and stroll through the park in honor of those who serve and have served. Call (910) 8924113 for information.
6 p.m., Evening In The Park. A night to “Lift Up God and Country” in Tart Park. Opens with The Band of Oz. The Black Daggars Parachute Team will jump in and the highlight of the evening will be the free concert beginning at 8 p.m. by The Charlie Daniels Band. The show will be concluded with a fireworks display at 10 p.m. Free to the public.
