Stanley Bruce Jarrell, 58

Mr. Stanley Bruce Jarrell, 58, of Dunn, N.C., passed away after a long battle with diabetes on Sunday, July 24, 2016, in Orange, Va. Stan was born June 10, 1958, in Charlottesville, Va., to Samuel and Eleanor Ayler Jarrell.

Stan is a graduate of Orange High School in Virginia and also Campbell University, Buies Creek, N.C., where he played baseball, both pitching and catching. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Dunn, N.C., and a well-respected member of the community.

Bringing compassion and love to many people under his care, Stan worked as the Director of Cardio Pulmonary and Respiratory Department at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, N.C., for over 25 years.

Stan was active in the community, especially working with young athletes, coaching soccer in the city recreational league and at times refereed games. Stan started the Women’s Soccer Program at Triton High School and voluntarily coached the girl’s and boys’ soccer teams. He also enjoyed sports and playing with his grandchildren. Stan will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Services will be held noon Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Dunn. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at 11 a.m.

In addition to his parents, Samuel and Eleanor Jarrell, Stan is survived by his loving wife, Denise Moore Jarrell; daughters, Christin Mayo and husband Owen, of Summerville, S.C., and Meagan Edwards and husband Adison of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Greg Jarrell, of Virginia and Kevin Jarrell, of Texas; sister, Karen Jarrell of Virginia; and three grandchildren, Natalie, Jacob and Sarah.
